A star of Montreal’s nightlife, Mado is a marriage of drag queen and clown.
For 31 years, she has conceived and produced the wildest party nights in Montreal. Queen of kitsch and parody, she’s famous in Quebec thanks to her TV appearances, her humorous chronicles in Fugues magazine and the weekly ICI Montreal, not to mention her famous Bingo nights at Mado, the Spectrum de Montreal, the Casino de Montréal, and the Just for Laughs Festival.
Her two greatest achievements to date? The Mascara show – a night of the drag that she’s organized, coordinated, and animated since 1997, presented in front of more than 25,000 people as part of the festivities of Montreal Pride, and the now famous Cabaret Mado that she opened in May 2002, which continues to attract crowds from Montreal and beyond.
Exuberant, provocative and extravagant, Mado Lamotte is a colorful character straight out of an adult comic book. She is undeniably a unique phenomenon from a new generation of comedians.
Inspired by the world of Michel Tremblay, child of Fanfreluche, Mado Lamotte is unpretentiously the most fabulous eccentric of Quebec and the biggest star of the new millennium!
