Want to be part of the dynamic and passionate team that provides direction and management to the largest Pride festival in the region? Capital Pride is looking for new board members to contribute to the organization’s strategic direction, operations, communications, fundraising and development.

Capital Pride brings together a team of dedicated staff and volunteers to organize the Capital Pride Summer Festival each year, and other year-round events. The organization creates opportunities to celebrate, advocate, educate and connect people, respecting the full diversity of the LGBTQ2+ community in Canada’s capital region.

Skills & Qualifications

Board Members are expected to attend Board meetings. They are responsible for ensuring the success of the organization by helping to coordinate events and initiatives; contributing strategic oversight; fundraising and reviewing the organization’s budgets and other financial activities; promoting Capital Pride’s mission in the community and to the media, and; assisting with growth and development in other ways.

We are looking for a group of candidates who, together, will have a broad range of experience and contribute an array of skills that will benefit the organization and who reflect the diversity of the community we serve. Skills and experience that are welcomed (but certainly is not limited to) include:

  • Strategic planning
  • Legal training and expertise
  • Community engagement
  • Event and festival management  
  • Traditional and social media communications
  • Human resources and volunteer management
  • Experience involved in non-profit organizations
  • Accounting and financial management
  • Information management and administration
  • Non-profit governance and experience serving as a director for other non-profit organizations
  • Experience with, or involvement in, LGBTQ2+ community organizations
